Andy Maule
From the Cardiff Jazz Society website at www.cardiffjazz.org
"Cardiff Jazz Society is sad to hear of the passing away of local guitarist and composer Andy Maule.
"Valleys born but long a Cardiff resident, Andy will best be remembered for his virtuosity on the fretboard with his band Strange Fruit.
"He also featured in a long-running lunchtime residency at Cafe Jazz with violinist Billy Thompson.
"Although Andy had not appeared in public performance for several years due to a long illness, he continued to compose music for television and film.
"Andy is survived by his wife Helen."

Andy was a guitarist who is able play in the style of the past masters of jazz guitar such as Barney Kessel or Tal Farlow, he is equally at home in a modern setting as heard in his band Strange Fruit. With a flexability which reflects the discipline of his main influences in the roots of be bop. His guitar expressing delicacy, clarity, each note played perfectly, he was a craftsman of his instrument.
